Style Inspiration from Candelaria Molfese - ♡ Natalie's Nook ♡ (12)

31/01/14

Hello Electra and Marian! This edition of Natalie's Nook will be very girly and will display some of my favourite outfits from Candelaria Molfese and tips! You might not be familiar with her. She plays the character of Camila Torres from my favourite TV show, Violetta.

Let's check out her style!

Keep the outfit young with frilly skirts
It's summer time (here in New Zealand) and it's time to show off your fun sense of style! Grab some clothes with some frills and vibrant colours.

Take a Break
Fashion-wise, you should take a break on very flourishing clothes. Whether you're taking a relaxing walk down your local public garden, or grabbing Starbucks with friends, just relax with the fashion. Don't forget a little bit of accessories.

Pair a polka-dot blouse with black shorts
I've seen a lot of girls wearing this look, and it looks very casual if you can't find a perfect combination in a rush. Tie your hair back and you're ready to go.

Light 'n Sassy
Candelaria didn't dress herself in this photo, but this is one of my favourite outfits on her.Grey leggings and a white cardigan suit about anything! Let your hair go loose but feel free to add as many accessories as you'd like.

Professional in Pink
No matter what occupation you have, it's best to look professional. Leather boots and a pencil skirt will go a long way. I love how exclusive it looks on her.

Sequins Galore
Who doesn't love sequins?!? It makes the whole look complete. You will look fabulous with the shininess and shimmer. Top it all off with a forehead headband.

What look did you find the best?

Thank you, as always, for reading.

Letters To Electra - I'm Back!

29/1/14

Dear Electra,

I cut my finger with a knife accidentally while washing the dishes today. It wouldn't stop bleeding! I ran it under cold running water but it still wouldn't stop bleeding! I started to panic because I seldom receive cuts that bleed. So I grabbed a paper towel to try and stop the blood, quickly pasted on a plaster, and put it on. This is my story of the day! I'm sorry that you had to read that, Electra.

Speaking of today, it was the first day of school for 2014! I really can't believe that this is the last year of intermediate. (which has only two years, but I can't believe that I'm entering high school next year!) I really miss year seven. The chaos and laughter was ever-lasting, because we were so close and understood each other. Good times!

You can actually find out what happened today on Marian's Everyday Life, because I don't want to make this letter too long.

Meet Natalie Kinly, My Better Half - ♡ Natalie's Nook ♡ (11)

24/1/14

All of us have our positive side, and a negative side. In this edition of Natalie's Nook, I'm going to interview my positive side, Natalie Kinly. (She is not the reason why this segment is named Natalie's Nook.)

But before we meet her, let's see what defines her:

She said to not say anything about this collage, as she wants people to figure out for themselves (she likes to be mysterious and intimate).

Let's meet her!

Marian: Hello Natalie! How are you?

Natalie: Ciao Marian! I'm happy the way I am. How about you?

Marian: I'm glad! You are my optimistic side anyway. I am excited because I can finally talk to you!

Natalie: Yep! I'm pleased to finally talk to the person I help!

Marian: Thanks! How can you keep this position working and running smoothly?

Natalie: I focus on the things that make you happy, Mari! And one of those things that makes me happy is you!

Marian: Aww!

Natalie: No problem :D

Marian: Tell me about a situation when you used your positiveness to cheer me up.

Natalie: There were a lot of moments! Remember when you got your team disqualified at Taboo? I made you sit down, shut your eyes, and say that that was nothing! Didn't you feel better?

Marian: Yes, I did! Now, let's talk about your complete opposite, Angie. I am aware of how she acts, because she really takes control of me. How do you cope with her behaviour?

Natalie: I learned that in every story there is an antagonist who will possibly ruin the whole plot , and a protagonist who wins. Your life is a story, and you're the person who chooses to be one of either to complete the story.

Marian: That's very important to remember. Why did you choose to be the protagonist though?

Natalie: I have to tell you something: Before you were born, I was the negative side of a past life who left on your birthday. She shared a lot of similarities with you, black hair, Filipino, and loved to write. I made that girl depressed a lot of times, because her positive side was too weak. The girl faced a lot of bad things, like being bullied physically and struggling at academics severely. When the girl left and I had to pick a side for you, I realised that all I did was wrong and chose to be on the optimistic side. I really don't want to lose another soul because I made one already lose hers.

Marian: I respect that you chose to be good. I feel like your power is more active than Angie's. Thank you for telling me now because you never have any time to talk to me.

Natalie: Thank you for respecting my choices.

Marian: This is the end of the interview! Thank you once again Natalie for joining me! We will continue to work with each other to control my choices.

Natalie: Thank you for chatting with me! Yes we will continue to not control, but help you make decisions difficult or not along with Angie!

This has been a chat with my optimistic side, Natalie Kinly! I hope you have talked to your positive side and gotten to know each other. Once you have met each other, continue to build your relationship with both optimism and pessimism.

Question of the day: Who are the two sides who make you yourself?

Don't be afraid to comment below!

Letters to Electra - I ONLY WANT TO BE WITH YOU!

22/4/14

Dear Electra,

I listened to Lodovica Comello's new album Universo (I'm actually listening to it now) for the first time a couple of days ago and it's so AWESOME! She has such an energetic voice which is also calming at the same time. It may be in Spanish, but it feels like I can understand any type of music even though if I have no idea what they're singing. I love her adaptation to the song 'I Only Want to Be With You'. It's so catchy and fun!

I checked my calendar and saw that school starts next week! NO! Okay, I've mentioned my rage about school ending too soon once, but I got so used to the holidays.

Guess what Electra? I'm going to get some photos printed of Jorge Blanco and Violetta to stick on the walls of my room! Argh! Too excited to write. See you.

Things to Do Before Turning 13 - ♡ Natalie's Nook ♡ (10)

17/1/14

Ciao!

I am turning 13 this year and before I turn into a teen I wrote up a list of twenty things to do before I turn into a young, naive teen. Just to note, I got some ideas from this site called '8 Clicks From Nowhere'.

Things to Do Before 13:
  1. Learn how to check pulse
  2. Master how to cook favourite meal
  3. Learn how to start controlled fire
  4. Learn names/locations of at least 20 countries
  5. Learn how to knit, sew, or crochet
  6. Know how to perform one good magic trick
  7. Work on how to tie three strong knots
  8. How to tell at least ten constellations
  9. Know how to use a knife safely to carve a point on a stick
  10. Use hand tools to build something
  11. Understand how electricity and circuits work
  12. Record an interview with my parents
  13. Write a story to feature on a fictional vintage radio talk show
  14. Write up a budget for anything (weddings, birthdays, etc.)
  15. Jot down a letter to myself ten years in the future
  16. Write a formal letter to a public figure/politician
  17. Compose a choreography to one full song
  18. Create an alternate universe using imagination
  19. Keep copies of recipes I love
  20. Write down the answer to one good question from everyone I've met
Thank you as always for reading! Check in every Wednesday for 'Letters to Electra' and Friday for 'Natalie's Nook'!

Letters to Electra - New Style!

15/1/14

Dear Electra,

I got a haircut today with my hair just above my shoulders now. I really like short hair because it's much more manageable and easier to look after, and I'm used to short hair.

What's been happening other than that? Nothing much. My mother's and friend's birthday is coming up, can't tell you when though.

I'm keeping this short because I have to go somewhere with my family. Bye.

How to Be A Good Friend - ♡ Natalie's Nook ♡ (9)

10/1/14

As school and work (you might have started work already) starts for a new semester you will have to know how to make friends and how to be a good one. Here are my tips on how to gain a new friend or even several in one day!

1) Be welcoming
Nobody likes a friend who is selfish, ignorant, and self-centred. Be welcoming! Introduce yourself, share differences and similarities, and smile!

2) Be honest
If someone asks what's your name, say your name. But if you're chatting to someone new online, fake your name for safety purposes. Only mention real information if you meet someone in real life and you know they're not kidnappers or anyone who has a criminal record.

3) Join co-curricular activities
Is there anything you're interested in and your school/organization has a group about it? Join! But if your school doesn't have a group, then ask around if you can make one or ask certain people who like that particular interest of yours.

4) Be yourself!
Fakes are the worst kind of people in this world. Don't be a Barbie doll! Unleash your inner knowledge of science or mathematics. Nearly everybody will approach you because the teachers love you!

I hope these tips will help you. Don't forget to practise loving yourself when meeting new people. Good luck!

Letters to Electra - Sudden Realization

8/01/14

Dear Electra,

Spanish is so difficult to learn! Others say it would be easy for me to study because I'm Filipino and lots of words from the Tagalog language evolved from Spanish, and once the Spaniards took over the Philippines. I think I'm struggling because I'm learning out of an intermediate book while I'm still a beginner. But it's really not that bad. It's quite an excellent book because every time there's a practise I at least get half of the answers or 80% out of 100% right. One time I got none right. I better keep practising...

I've just realised that I don't listen to Charli XCX, Marina and the Diamonds, and Lana Del Rey anymore. I'm opening the 'Electra Heart' album file on my laptop as I study, and it's really making me concentrate more than listening to the 'Hoy Somos Mas' album by Violetta! I should listen to it whenever I'm in the need of concentration...

BEST OF 2013 - ♡ Natalie's Nook ♡ (7)

27/12/13
Harrrooo!

You already know what's going on, EAM.

IT'S NEARING NEW YEAR'S!

So to celebrate 2013, I will write a post based upon my top three favourites in entertainment. Hope you enjoy!

Music Artists: Charli XCX, Lorde, and Martina Stoessel

You've obviously heard about Lorde. "And we'll never be royals! (royals)" Other than that song I have loved Love Club, Bravado, and Team.

Martina Stoessel is a Latina actress and singer. She's the star of my favourite show Violetta and I adore her voice and ability to play the piano.

Charli XCX has this indie feel to her songs. I really recommend her songs to others even though if you don't like the indie genre

Books: Omg! Is This Actually My Life?, All American Girl, and Switchers
Most of EAM know what books I love from the Letters to Electra post entitled "Hey! Where are You?" and it was hard to pick one of out them, because I have two other books that I favour.

From that post I had to pick 'Omg! Is This Actually My Life?' by Rae Earl. It's an example of the modern teenage girl's thoughts and impacts on life, and it's very girly.

All American Girl is a novel by one of my favourite authors Meg Cabot. The main protagonist is named Samantha, and how she saved the president from an assassination by jumping on the suspect's back. I really recommend this book to girls who want a quick read because it's only got 200 pages, and I managed to finish in a week.

Switchers is such a mysterious novel. It was hard for me to read because at the time I started to read it I was extremely out of focus because of how many things I did a day. I still love it and I recommend this book to fantasy and sci-fi lovers.

Shows: Violetta and the Sleep-Over Club
I don't have a third favourite because it's hard to find good tv shows that fit my taste (*cough* girly *cough*)

I have nothing to say about Violetta because you all know how high my obsession level with it is.

The Sleep-Over Club is about a sleep-over club that consists of five 12-13 year old girls who have sleepovers monthly while defeating a group of evil boys called the "M'Ms" and another group of girls who are also antagonists like the M'Ms.

Movies: Despicable Me 2, Wreck-It Ralph, and Mirror Mirror
Despicable Me 2 is such a cute movie. My batch mates and I watched it and we all loved it. Seriously, who doesn't find minions adorable?

Mirror Mirror is my favourite out of the three. Lily Collins is such a good actress and the casting was spot on for choosing her to play Snow White.

All I can think about Wreck-It Ralph is diabetes. They have a game based on Candyland!

Video Games: The Walking Dead (Season 1), The Last of Us, and Beyond: Two Souls

I love all these games that I can't describe my interest for them. All I can say is that these three are so cool and fun to play. I really recommend if you love zombies and pick-a-path games.

That was an extremely long post! Thank you for reading and I'll see you next year!
